Discussion Phase

We meet with our clients to understand their ideas and vision for the remodeling project. Together, we discuss the timeline, budget, and expectations. This initial step is essential, as it helps us better understand our clients’ needs in detail.

Proposal Phase

We provide a detailed scope of work and clearly outline what clients can expect throughout the remodeling process.

Design Phase

Our engineers and designers conduct site visits and take all necessary measurements before drafting architectural drawings. We also offer 3D rendering services to give clients a realistic preview of their new kitchen, bathroom, or room. As a licensed remodeling company, we handle all required city approvals.

Procurement Phase

After the proposal is approved, we support clients in selecting the right materials for the project. From paint colors to furniture pieces, our team offers guidance so clients can confidently choose what fits their vision.

Build Phase

We begin construction with our trusted contractors, ensuring the safety and security of your home throughout the renovation. Our expert team manages the schedule, while our customer service team provides regular updates on progress and timeline.

  • Yes and no. While we do not have an in-house architect, we work closely with several trusted architects and architectural firms on a regular basis. Our in-house team includes interior designers, kitchen designers, project managers, and a range of experienced trade professionals.

Architects are typically needed for structural work such as moving walls, altering building exteriors, or relocating utilities. If your project requires an architect, we’re happy to connect you with one of our long-time partners and coordinate closely throughout the process.

  • The design and permitting process begins as soon as the contract is signed. Each client works at a different pace with our interior design team. Some make decisions quickly and move through the design phase faster, while others prefer to take more time exploring options.

In many cases, design selections influence the permitting process, and sometimes permitting requirements shape the design. Once the design is finalized, permits are approved, and building approval is granted, we can begin construction.

  • Permitting requirements vary depending on the scope and type of work. Alteration permits from the Department of Buildings (DOB) must be submitted by a licensed architect or engineer. West Edge can help coordinate this process; however, fees from third-party professionals will be billed separately.

Plumbing and electrical permits are more common and are typically obtained by the licensed tradesperson, making these permits more straightforward. Most permits have set fees, and your project developer will advise you early on about which permits your project will require.

  • Yes. When you work with a project developer, you’ll receive clear information about labor and construction costs, along with guidance on material and finish selections. By establishing a budget early in the process, the designers at West Edge can help you stay aligned with your financial goals and avoid unexpected expenses.

  • Your designer, project manager, and project developer will provide guidance specific to your project. In general, we recommend keeping the work area clear of clutter, furniture, electronics, and any loose items that could be accidentally damaged. Valuables should be secured and removed from the construction zone. If the renovation involves the entire home or unit, West Edge recommends storing these items in a separate location outside the project area.

  • This depends on several factors unique to your project. If the renovation involves a small area, such as a single kitchen or one of several bathrooms, clients can usually remain on-site without issue. However, if the work affects essential spaces, such as all bathrooms, or impacts the entire home, West Edge recommends arranging alternative accommodations.

Clients with young children or pets are also advised to stay off-site, since construction zones can pose health and safety risks due to poor air quality and hazards like sharp tools or debris.

  • Absolutely. West Edge follows all building guidelines for protecting common areas, and we apply the same care to each client’s apartment. As work progresses, completed areas will be protected as well. We use methods such as plastic sheeting, zip doors, masonite, paper, and cardboard to keep surfaces clean and prevent dust, dirt, debris, smudges, or other damage to both existing and newly installed items.
